As expected, Russia won the match against Egypt with the score 3-1. With this, Russia is virtually in the round of 16 after
registering their second successive win in the tournament. Certainly, Artem Dzyuba can be called the man of the match
after his goal in Russia’s 3-1 win over Egypt. Rest, Cheryshev was Russia’s hero in the opening win against Saudi Arabia and the home fans roared his every touch, almost as loudly as Egypt’s cheered Salah.
His second-half goal was the key moment in this match and moved him joint-top of the World Cup scoring charts, along
with Cristiano Ronaldo ( Portugal ). After a quiet first half, he was at the heart of Russia’s best play in this match and is now establishing himself as the poster boy of this competition. Russia outclassed Mohamed Salah’s Egypt 3-1 in their second Group A match. However, all the four goals came in the second half, after
the two sides played out a goalless first half.
The first goal by Russia was in 47 minutes bringing the game to a lead of Russia by 1-0. The second goal in 59 minutes was
something which made the match interesting. Denis Cheryshev was the one to double the lead for Russia. In 62 minutes, the third goal was made. This time Artem Dzyuba made it 3-0 for Russia. He chest down the ball at the edge of the area, turned and shot a thunderous strike into the net. In 72 minutes, finally, Egypt got a chance through a Penalty. Of course, the opportunity was not missed by Mohamed Salah with a Goal! The score now turned to 3-1.
With this, the match came to an end after 90+4 minutes and Russia beat Egypt. Egypt will be eliminated from the competition if Saudi Arabia fails to beat Uruguay in Rostov-on-Don on Wednesday. Russia’s final game in Group A is against Uruguay in Samara next Monday afternoon (3pm, UK time).
